Our clients span the UK energy sector and range from government departments and the big, international energy utilities right down to small, independent generators and suppliers.
For each client we offer practical, business-focused advice, based on our hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of the sector.
Click here to see our response to the recent consultation from the regulator seeking views on the increased costs it faces to administer the Renewables Obligation (RO).
We argued that if Ofgem E-serve is to carry service provider roles such as administering the RO without competitive tendering, there needs to be a much clearer governance framework to engage stakeholders and funders, and there should also be increased accountability for performance
In addition to our Spring supplement 2010 New Directions? The General Election and Energy Policy Cornwall Energy has published two primers to provide a high-level view of new significant policies introduced on 1 April. Both the policies aim to facilitate the move towards a low-carbon economy, but focus on different aspects of the market to achieve their ends.
The first explains the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme, an emissions cap and trade scheme that obliges large businesses to purchase permits to cover carbon emissions. Participants’ performance will be published in an annual league table—creating a reputational incentive to use energy more efficiently as well as an economic one.

The second gives an overview of Feed-in Tariffs (FiTs) and explains how they work, applicable rates and responsibilities of Ofgem and suppliers.

Cornwall Energy has submitted a response to Ofgem's Liquidity Proposals for the GB Wholesale Electricity Market consultation, which closed on 23 April.
We welcome the work Ofgem is doing to improve liquidity, but argue that the market should not be left to deliver solutions. We also set out which of the options the regulator has put forward should be progressed.

Our response to the regulator’s consultation on its Ofgem’s proposed corporate strategy and plan 2010-15 can be found here.
We focus on the creation of Ofgem E-serve and call for it to only undertake work following a clear and open tender process to ensure that other prospective providers of such services have had an opportunity to bid for the work.
